"Bringing Peace & Love 2Gether"

This website was setup for the Long Mountain Community by Rula Brown and the Long Mountain (Abroad) Committee.

The Long Mountain(Abroad) Committee is a group of citizen originated from the Long Mountain Community, Kingston/St. Andrew, Jamaica W.I. The committee objective is to assist with community projects in the areas of Mountain View Ave, Jarrett Lane, Wareika Hills, Saunders Avenue and other adjoining areas.

The committee have been hosting events in the Long Mountain Community since 1996. It assisted with the staging of Sports, Education and cultural events. The group has also assist youths with school supplies, school fee and money in the form of shcolarships. Throughout its tenure, the committee has issued thousands of awards for education, sports and community service. Awards are issued for achievement as a form of encouragement to the awardees and the other community members to do well.
Each Easter weekend, we host an event at the Long Mountain Community Centre and playing field which is attended by thousands of people from different parts of Jamaica, U.S.A, UK, Canada and other nations.

The committee assisted with other events. It also made contribution and co-sponsor the Long Mountain soccer, netball team and also the Long Mountain Pageant.
Educating members of our community is most important to us. The Long Mountain (Abroad) Committee is currently working on a program to have a library instituted. The building is 50 percent completed (thanks to Long Mtn community members such as Landy Ottey for seeking the funds to take it this far). The committee will be depending on everyone to assist with funds to complete the building and donation of computers. Financial contribution will also be needed to pay Librarians and also to maintain the institution.

Another aim of ours is to have “Peace and Love” in our community. Our community theme song “Peace and Love” (penned and voiced by community member Rula Brown) exemplify what we are looking for.
